How to Delete a Classroom

If you're cleaning up outdated training setups, retiring seasonal courses, or shifting users to a new classroom structure, deleting unused classrooms can help you stay organized. It also prevents confusion for learners and removes clutter from reports and dashboards.

But before you delete one, make sure you understand what data gets removed — and what stays.

What happens when you delete a classroom?

  • All course assignments, reports, and learner progress linked only to that classroom will be permanently removed.

  • Users and groups assigned to that classroom will not be deleted — they remain available in the “My Classroom” default view, unless explicitly removed.

  • If you've reused the same course in multiple classrooms, progress in other classrooms remains unaffected.

  • This action cannot be undone, so download any reports you need beforehand.

You cannot delete “My Classroom” as it serves as the default base for all users, groups, and content.

To delete a classroom, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Classroom tab on your ProProfs Training Maker dashboard.

Go to Classroom on your Training software dashboard

2. On the Classroom main screen, hover over the classroom card you want to remove and click the three vertical dots. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.

Note: ‘My Classroom’ is the default classroom containing all users and groups you create. This classroom can’t be deleted.

3. Click Delete on the confirmation message.

Note: Doing this also removes classroom-specific data, such as all the progress made by your learners in that classroom.

Frequently asked questions

1. What happens to users and groups when I delete a classroom?
Users and groups linked to the classroom aren’t deleted. They’re retained under “My Classroom” unless you manually remove them.

2. Can I transfer course progress from one classroom to another before deletion?
No, course progress is tied to the classroom where it was completed. If you delete that classroom, the progress is lost. Export reports before deleting them if you need records.

3. Will deleting a classroom affect shared courses used in other classrooms?
No. If the same course is assigned in multiple classrooms, only the progress and assignments specific to the deleted classroom are removed. The course itself remains intact.

4. Is there a way to archive a classroom instead of deleting it?
ProProfs currently does not support archiving. If you want to temporarily hide a classroom, consider removing user access and reassigning courses as needed, rather than deleting.

5. Can I recover a deleted classroom or its reports later?
No, deletion is permanent. Once deleted, all associated data, course progress, reports, and assignments are erased and cannot be restored.

And that's it! If you encounter any issues or have any questions, don't hesitate to contact our support team.
